Trek to the Great Tower of Chehni Kothi in Tirthan Valley

If you have been following us, you would know we have been on our 7 day trip to Tirthan Valley. For quite a while Tirthan was in our bucket list and thankfully we made it to the places. Our itinerary was jam-packed and Chehni Kothi was our next destination.

The Legend of Chehni Kothi

Chehni Kothi or Chaini Kothi is a ten-story tower temple in the Himalayan hamlet of Chehni.  There are many interesting folklores surrounding this place. According to locales, these 17th-century structures were built by medieval Kullu kings who used it mainly to fortify their kingdoms. The wooden towers were especially used to garrison the troops. Unfortunately, the tower lost some stories in the 1905 earthquake.

How to reach Chehni Kothi

Actually no motor-able road takes you here. And this makes the hike to this place even more fascinating.  From Banjar bus station you can take a taxi to Shringa Rishi temple and then the trails take you to Chehni Kothi.

The Jungle Book Adventure at Chhoie Waterfall

Tirthan Valley is known for its gurgling streams, apple orchards, and majestic mountains. We had planned a 7 day trip to the place and next on our list was Chhoie or Choi Waterfall. We had already visited GNHP National Park and in the land full of streams visiting this local tourist spot was a must.

The Choi or Chhoie Waterfall

Choi or Chhoie waterfall is a major attraction in the Tirthan Valley. The waterfall lies Great Himalayan National Park and calls for a steep trek to the place. Mind you, what may seem to be just a waterfall for us, is in fact place of worship for the locals. So one must avoid littering at these places. Continue reading The Jungle Book Adventure at Chhoie Waterfall

Trek to Great Himalayan National Park in Tirthan Valley

Lazing in the lap of nature, chucking all the office chores, and shutting out the toxic pollution, our escape to Tirthan valley was coming out to be more than just fine.

We had parked ourselves at Gushiani, at a homestay by the breathtaking Tirthan river. While there were lots of things to do in our bucket list, the first one obviously was the trek to Great Himalayan National Park.

The site is declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Situated in the Kullu region, it is one of the most scenic national parks of the world boasting rich alpine flora and fauna. Both Abhishek and I have over the past switched to active lifestyles so we’re quite confident about concluding the long treks.
